Day 5: 4th February 1947

Capitan’s Diary

Wind started to moderate during the morning watch.

At 11.45 St Kitts joined as a relief for St James this was after mails and bread were transferred by jackstay fine exhibition of seamanship on the part of St James in the prevailing rough sea and swell.

By 16.00 wind down to 10 knots and slight swell.

Vanguard had entered calmer seas of southern Portugal.
