More manoeuvres with HMS Nigeria.

The Princesses and the Gunroom had a treasure hunt and afterwards Royal Family had their cinema on the Quarter Deck.

Royal Train information.

A part of the maintenance team of the Royal Train were the Electricians and one who was appointed was a J. Niehaus.

Below is his pass to visit the the Royal Train on the 12th and 13th of February 1947.



Mr J Niehaus pass valid for the whole of the Royal Tour on the Royal (White) Train. More about Mr Niehaus later on the tour with letters and pictures.


The South African Government produced a special set of stamps values 1d, 2d and 3d. These stamps are also overprinted South West Africa (SWA) however the Royal family did not visited SWA. The stamps are produced in bilingual pairs - South Africa - Suid Afrika

The other countries visited on the tour also produced their own special stamps and they will be displayed as we reach the countries.

Today the 1d stamp showing His Majesty the King George V1.

The whole sheet was 240 stamps in rows of 20 by 12


There are a number of varieties of the stamps listed in South African Catalogues these are the main ones, however if you have sheets of the stamps smaller varieties are possible to identify. The first pair are a good copy of the stamps so you can compare with varieties below.
