75th Anniversary of Royal Family Visit to South Africa Day 37
Day 37: 8th March 1947
Programme
This was a Saturday and the Royal Family made use of the Kings Flight to go to the Free State Game Reserve.
Postal cover dated the 8th March
Picture of the King & Queen next to one of the planes
Close up showing the crown to show it was part of Kings Flight
Pictures from the ILN to show the King & Queen arriving separately
There were still staff on the Royal Train over the weekend and here is an example of the menu from the Royal Train on stiff card and one from the Pilot Train on somewhat flimsy paper in comparison.
Interesting philatelic cover done by a stamp collector. This has a Bloemfontein postal mark for the 3 day visit. The reverse has a first day post mark and a cover with the Royal Family depicted.
Several covers to Capt. Frank A Zid from South West Africa dated 8th March
