75th Anniversary of Royal Family Visit to South Africa Day 30 & 31

 Day 30 : 1st March 1947   Day 31 : 2nd March Royal Family rest day (Sunday)

9.00am Train arrives at Alice

 9.15am Leave by car to go to Lovedale

10.15am Leave by car from Lovedale

10.30am Back on train at Alice

              Blaney station stop over

3.30pm  Arrive East London

This may be a picture of Royal Family at Lovedale University. This town was founded as a mission station in 1824 and one of the missionaries was a Mr Love hence the name of the town.


After leaving Alice on route to East London a stop over at Blaney photos probably taken by local resident.

  3. Hi David I was at a South African Collectors Society meeting yesterday and the though was that the Lovedale post office still exists.
