75th Anniversary of Royal Family Visit to South Africa Day 96

 Day 96: 6th May 1947

Captain's Diary

During the afternoon HMS Triumph flew off aircraft for aerobatics and air co-operation.

Two Covers from 1950, printed I expect for some philatelic outlet as they are both stamped Captain and Commanding Officer

What happened to the HMS Vanguard after the Tour part 1 of 4

The Royal Family were expected to go to Australia and New Zealand in early 1949 but this did not happened due to the Kings ill health.

Photo of HMS Vanguard leaving for a shake down cruise in 1948

New Zealand produced a set of 4 stamps ready for the visit. However when the Tour was cancelled the stamps were meant to be scrapped. This is the HMS Vanguard stamp (sad to say this is a copy from the magazine). I have reproduced the article from Stamp Magazine (https://www.stampmagazine.co.uk)

The Tour was rescheduled for later in 1950 but again was cancelled. Another photo of the ship on a trip in preparation to Gibraltar.
